What are the portfolios' MERs?

Management Expenses Ratios (MER fees) are charged by investment funds' companies. MERs are embedded in all funds' unit prices. MERs vary widely from one investment companies to another.

Exchanged-traded funds (ETF) usually carry low MERs, while a majority of Canadian mutual funds' exhibit MERs that go beyond reason.

MERs also vary according to the funds' structure, size, asset class, and many other factors, including commission paid to some categories of financial advisors (in the case of mutual funds).

The following exhibit shows the weighted-average MERs of WealthBar's portfolios.
